British Association of Critical Care Nurses

The British Association of Critical Care Nursing (BACCN) came to Onclick looking for ways of providing helpful training resources to existing BACCN members.

At the same time, they were keen to build overall awareness of the charity and promote the benefits of joining to potential new members.

Onclick put together a complete elearning starter package for BACCN to fit within their budget.

We first developed a dedicated online learning platform, fully customised to the charity’s brand and unique needs. We next designed a bespoke HTML5-compatible elearning template, to enable rapid development of interactive elearning modules.

Our initial elearning project focused on “Adult Tracheostomy Care Management”. Much of the course content focused on videos demonstrations of specific procedures. We incorporated a variety of both tutor-led instructional videos and real-time emergency case studies. Our team filmed across a weekend at the high-tech SAIL Simulation Centre.

On site, we conducted a photoshoot of all staff tutors with props, to be used as course guides throughout the course. A further studio-based photoshoot of all tracheostomy tubes and equipment was also required.

The videos were edited with key captions throughout, title screens and music.

Eight bitesize elearning modules were developed with interactive activities and embedded video demonstrations. A final assessment with BACCN certification was also custom-built within the learnzone.

This was a rapid project with a 3-month turnaround for platform construction, video production, photo-shoots and elearning development. The site is already attracting BACCN member sign-up, with numerous enquires from potential members.

Our aim is to continue working with the charity and develop further bespoke courses and resources for the site, offering an essential tutorial guide to those working in critical care nursing.
